Report taken from printed version of the Clare Champion Week ending 20-08-10
Clondegad v Kildysart @ Labasheeda, Saturday, 5 pm, Referee Barry Kelly St Joseph's Miltown Malbay
A local derby between two sides who both have already qualified for the last four. Both sides met at the group stages last year where Kildysart were victorious. Howver this year Clondegad have been impressive in both the Cusack Cup and championship thus giving them the nod for this one. Both sides possess sharp shooters in Paudge McMahon (Clondegad) and Gerry Kelly (Kildysart) both of whom will have a big say in deciding this contest. Other players likely to have a big bearing on the game are Kenneth Kelly, Gary Brennan (Clondegad) along with Keith O'Connor and Shane McNeilis (Kildysart).
Verdict: Clondegad
Ballyvaughan v Clooney/Quin @ Corofin, Saturday, 4 pm
A bottom of the table clash between a 2009 senior team (Ballyvaughan) and the 2009 Junior A champions (Clooney-Quin). A win for either side is needed to ensure survival with Ballyvaughan hotly tipped to come through after a year to forget for them. Key operators for Ballyvaughan are Stevie Hynes, John Martyn and Kevin Carrucan. Their east Clare opponents will need the likes of Cillian Duggan, Fergal Lynch and Cathal Egan on form to trouble Ballyvaughan.
Verdict: Ballyvaughan
Corofin v Kilmurry Ibrickane @ Ennistymon, Saturday, 6.45 pm
An important game for both sides with the winners joining St. Breckan's in the last four. This game is a repeat of the Division 4 league final where Kilmurry Ibrickane were victorious by 1-6 to 0-7. A similar result is expected here with Diarmuid Daly, Darragh Shannon and Colm Clancy leading the Corofin cause. Kilmurry will have others ideas with Aidan Moloney Junior, Thomas O'Connor and Niall Hickey in their side.
Verdict: Corofin
O'Callaghan's Mills v St. Breckan's @ Corofin, Saturday, 5.30 pm
St. Breckan's are already through to the semi-final while the Mills need a win here to ensure survival. These sides met at the group stages last year where the Mills were victorious but this time around it is Breckan's who are fancied to come through. Players likely to shape this game include Conor Cooney, Bryan and Patrick Donnellan (O'Callaghan's Mills), Pat Nagle, Denis O'Driscoll and Stephen Tierney (St. Breckan's).
