Division 5 Football League Result
Ballyvaughan-Fanore 2:14 Cooraclare 1:08
Ballyvaughan-Fanore registered their first two points of the 2018 on the playing fields on Saturday April 14th, like the previous year it's a stop start beginnning to proceedings as a walkover was received in the first competitive outing against Kilrush and game 2 against Meelick was called off due to a referee shortage.
Ballyvaughan-Fanore got off to a terriffic start and thundered in to the game playing with the aid of the wind in the first half and kicked 1 goal and 0:11 points to Cooraclare's 0:02 points, this opened up a twelve point interval lead, which laid a strong foundation as they turned to play against the wind. There was always a worry that a score like what was posted would not be enough playing in to the wind in the second half and would do to see out the game but equally in the second half the team was able to carry the ball with speed and accuracy to add to the tally in the first half seeing out the game on a scoreline of 2:14 to Cooraclare's 1:08.
Cooraclare did rally their troops early in the second half but a second goal quelled the fight back and led Ballyvaughan-Fanore to victory.
