A winning start to the 2010 Banner Cup Division 3 Football League was obtained when Kildysart were defeated by 2 points in Kildysart, Ballyvaughan nervously held on to grab the precious two points.
Kildysart were the dominant side in the opening quarter, opening up a 3 points to no score lead. Injury to Kieran Casey forced him to retire in the first half, replacement John McCormack was moved in to the attack for which he scored the first point from play and Captain Mark Walsh filled the centre back position. A half time score of Kildysart 0:04 Ballyvaughan 0:03 stood as Ballyvaughan's other scores came from Jason McDonagh, one from a free one from a play.
In the second half our work rate was a lot better and we looked a lot more solid in defence, a James Hynes goal was scored for which he ran all the way from midfield straight through the heart of the Kildysart defence and side stepped neumorous players in the process. Both sides struggled to put away clear cut chances but Kildysart finished strongly but were not able push home the advantage.Ballyvaughan's scores in the second half came from Stevie Hynes (0:02) from play and Jason Mc Donagh with two from frees, with James Hynes scoring that all important goal.
